No Smoking in the New Year

Time is Up! Well... many thought the day would never come, myself included. You are no longer allowed to smoke in any public place in the state of Illinois. As with all new laws, the fuzz are on the scene right out the gates. If you were fortunate enough to be out at the bars on New Years Eve, there were undercover police just waiting for the ball to drop, although not to ring in the new year, but to write you a ticket for smoking in the bar. You could smoke until the ball hit the floor, until the count hit 1, until... until.... You get the point. For many, this is a long time coming. Now non-smokers can enjoy a Saturday night out in Chicago without coming home smelling like a smokers lounge. Heck, even pregnant women can enjoy the bar scene without risking the health of the yet unborn. But what about the smokers? They get to enjoy the year-round weather of our beloved city. Brave the cold, stay strong through the heat. Will it stop people from smoking? Some... People like to smoke, and why not? They are addicted. The price of a pack of cigarettes is more likely to impact people's habits, but the combination will help social smokers stop completely, and make the hard-core brave the conditions. All in all, it passed, get used to it, whichever side of the fence you are on.

I think the smoking ban is a crock. How is it possible to buy the product and not use it anywhere?
